Yes this is just me rambling on...

I seriously went through almost all five stages of grief when Hugh Laurie beat Patrick Dempsey at the Golden Globes. I love Hugh, he's an awesome actor and I LOVE LOVE LOVE House so, I guess it's a kind of win-win-kind of loose situation. I just love Patrick more so... oh well.

It's really sad that I have nothing better to do but fangirl late at night. I'd write about my life but, it's so incredibly boring that even I don't want to hear about it again. Still haven't got the chance to see Freedom Writers. (I've been busy...kind of.)

I'm trying to make a decent MerDer desktop background. Will post when I've finished.

That is all. I'm going to sleep now.

I'm taking an icon challenge at 100icons. 100 icons of Derek Shepherd. This is the first time I've done one of these so wish me luck! :D I figured if I'm going to make 100 icons of the same thing I might as well pick something that's great to look at.

Removing Backgrounds Using Quick Mask Mode (PS7)

Go From this to in PS7

This tutorial focuses on how to remove backgrounds from photos easily. It works best for icons. I'm not sure if it translates.

1. Open your image. I used one of Adam Pascal from this post in rent.

2. Crop. Do not resize yet.

3. Enable Quick Mask Mode (Q).

4. Switch to the brush tool and paint over everything you'd like to keep in the image. You don't have to be very exact because, it will look better once you resize it. Make sure your Foreground is set to black and your Background is white. Your brush color should look red-ish after you paint over it.

5. Switch back to Standard Mode (Q)

6. Your image should now be selected around the areas you want to keep. Invert the selection and use Crl + X to cut out the subject.

7. Create a new image. It should automatically be the right size.

8. Now resize to 100x100.

9. If there are still really visible pieces of the background, erase them with a Soft Round brush.

10. Now you can add textures, brushes, text etc...

1. Open your image. I used one of Rachel Bilson.

2. Crop. resize to 100x100.

3. Sharpen.

4. Duplicate base image. Set to Multiply, 42% opacity.

5. New layer. Fill with E0B9A2. Set to Multiply, 100% opacity.

6. New layer. Fill with 9DEC84. Set to Darken, 100% opacity.

7. New layer. Fill with 80999B. Set to Vivid Light, 100% opacity.

8. Duplicate 80999B layer. Set to Vivid Light, 32% opacity.

9. New layer. Fill with EFBD67. Set to Multiply, 50% opacity.

10. Duplicate EFBD67 layer. Set to Multiply, 10% opacity.

11. Save your icon. That's it you're done!
